(Grammar Core)
Part 1:
(Uncountable) |
|---|---|
| 能数:one book, two books | 不能数:water, music, information |
| 用 a/an, many, few | 用 much, little, a piece of |
|---|---|---|---|
| information | 信息 | 英语视为整体概念 | a piece of information |
| a piece of news |
| advice | 建议 | 同上 | a piece of advice |
| furniture | 家具 | 集合概念 | a piece of furniture |
| luggage/baggage | 行李 | 集合概念 | a piece of luggage |
| bread | 面包 | 物质名词 | a loaf/slice of bread |
|---|---|
| 一般加 -s | book → books, cat → cats, dog → dogs, pen → pens |
| s/sh/ch/x/o 加 -es | bus → buses, watch → watches, potato → potatoes, box → boxes |
| 辅音+y → ies | city → cities, baby → babies, story → stories, family → families |
| f/fe → ves | knife → knives, wife → wives, leaf → leaves, life → lives |
| 不规则 | man→men, woman→women, child→children, foot→feet, tooth→teeth, mouse→mice |
| 单复同形 | sheep→sheep, fish→fish, deer→deer, Chinese→Chinese |
Part 2:冠词三剑客 a / an / the
|---|---|---|
| a | 辅音发音开头的单数可数名词 | a book, a university(u 发 /juː/) |
| an | 元音发音开头的单数可数名词 | an apple, an hour(h 不发音) |
| the | 特指(双方都知道是哪一个) | the sun, the book on the table |
I like music. Dogs are lovely. |
|---|---|
| an hour | h 不发音,元音 /aʊ/ 开头 |
| a university | u 发 /juː/,辅音开头 |
| an honest man | h 不发音 |
| a European country | eu 发 /juː/ |
| an MP3 player | M 发 /em/,元音开头 |
Grammar Lens
第一次提到 → a/an "I saw a dog in the park."
第二次提到 → the "The dog was very friendly."
独一无二 → the "the sun, the moon, the Earth"
Dogs are loyal animals. |
I love music. |
| 三餐 | have breakfast/lunch/dinner |
| 球类运动 | play football/basketball |
| 学科 | study English/maths |
| by + 交通工具 | by bus/train/plane |
Culture Note 🇬🇧🇺🇸 英国人说 “go to hospital”(生病住院),美国人说 “go to the hospital”。 英国人说 “at university”,美国人说 “at the university”。
😂 Grammar Joke
a/an/the 的终极困惑
Teacher: “Use ‘a’, ‘an’ and ‘the’ in one sentence.” Student: “A boy fell into the river, and an old man saved him.” Teacher: “Very good! Now another one.” Student: “I ate a banana, an orange, and the whole cake.” Teacher: “That last one is concerning.”
学生完美地在一句话里用了三种冠词:a(辅音开头的泛指)、an(元音开头的泛指)、the(特指”那整个蛋糕”)。
中文、日文、韩文、俄文都没有 a/an/the 的概念。
冠词是日耳曼语系的”发明”——the 来自古英语的指示代词 se/sēo/þæt(那个),a/an 来自古英语的数词 ān(一个)。
